It’s Mary Time

by Suzanne on April 9, 2010

My brain is mush. I am totally in a fog today. I should have a big fog horn just to warn people of impending doom coming at them. I didn’t even drive today because I felt like if I did I’d end up taking a breathalyzer test and have to explain why I passed. Actually, this scene is a little too “serene” for my fog today. I have forgotten things; gone into rooms (read “more than one and more than one time”) for things removed from my visions forever as soon as I walked through the threshold; said things I have no idea I’ve said; couldn’t find my way out of a paper bag. Even the voices have quit talking. I need a friend. Suzi’s Friend Mary will do just fine. Most of the time, like 99%, they have no hooch in them. It’s a way to get my veggies for the day. She understands me. I’m thinkin’ a little hooch is in order tonight. I’m thinkin’ this: Suzi’s Friend Mary 4 oz. Low Sodium Tomato Juice 2 oz. Mr. & Mrs. T’s Bloody Mary Mix (regular, not Bold and Spicy) 1 tsp. Tabasco Sauce 1/2 tsp. Suzi’s Friend Mary Spice Mix 1 medium lime 1 oz. Vodka (if you want some hooch) Rim glass with salt, if you prefer. I’m salty enough, so I do without. Fill glass with ice and mix all ingredients together in glass. Adjust the heat with the Tabasco, as tolerated. Stir thoroughly and garnish with celery rib, an olive and pickled cocktail onion. When we were in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania last year we ate at Primanti Brothers. They served a Pickled Mary. I ordered. They served. The garnish was a dill pickle spear. I can roll that way, too. Suzi’s Bloody Mary Spice Mix 1 Tbsp Red Chile Powder 1 tsp. Black Pepper 1/2 tsp. Cayenne Chile Powder 1/4 tsp. Ancho Chile Powder 1/4 tsp. Garlic Powder 1/4 tsp. Onion Powder 1/4 tsp. Celery Seed 1/4 tsp. White Pepper This concoction will yield enough for a lot of Suzi’s Friend Marys. Say that five times really fast. Mary’s Friend, Suz Printable Recipe
