Or, maybe this will be a triple play. . . Keep reading and find out! I LOVE baseball! And whether they are winning or not, I am a big fan of the Texas Rangers. I also LOVE sweet stuff, although I don’t make or buy much of it. Probably because I know myself way too well. I’d eat it! I do heart Jolly Ranchers and Sour Patch Kids. Oh, and gum balls! I’m sure I will have my own gumball machine and an endless supply of gum balls in Heaven. And when I do make a dessert, generally it involves fruit. Blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, apples, mangos, . . . well, you get the idea. My grandmother (mom’s mom) lived just down the street from us and I would stay with her after school. I was probably about six years old when, one day, Mom came to get me and the minute she saw me she was ready to take me to the doctor. I looked like the perfect specimen of jaundice. Well, after talking about it, I ‘fessed up and told them that I had eaten about 10 oranges that afternoon. BIG oranges. Yep, color me orange. My taste buds do lean toward the savory side like the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Chips and salsa are their own food group. My favorite afternoon snack is a Bloody Mary – spicy – and most of the time it has no hooch. “Most” of the time. There are times when the hooch spills into the Bloody Mary totally on accident. But I hate wasting good tomato juice, so I manage to drink it. Like this Spicy Bloody Mary. All of this to say that for this month’s Secret Recipe Club I had the honor and pleasure to have two secret recipe blogs to drool over. And it wasn’t easy to pick just one to make from each of them – although with my persistent procrastination, one recipe from each was really all I had time for. Oh, by the way, if’n you want to join in the fun, click on this link and sign up to be a part of the Secret Recipe Club! The more the merrier! The first recipe is from Gloria who lives in Calera de Tango, Santiago, Chile. She has so many fabulous recipes, both in English and in Spanish! Check out her blog at Canela Kitchen. Here’s […]
